At Amazon's re:Invent conference held in Las Vegas, the tech giant unveiled 'Q,' a generative AI-powered chatbot aimed at serving Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers, predominantly businesses.

With this, the tech giant is joining the wave of generative AI's exponential growth seen since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Designed to cater to AWS customers, 'Q' stands as an AI assistant equipped to handle real-time inquiries, assist in content creation, and execute tasks as directed by businesses. This innovative chatbot seeks to enhance customer needs, offering swift real-time responses to queries raised by AWS customers, and facilitating instant communication between parties.

The functionality of 'Q' extends beyond mere query responses; it's equipped with the ability to identify crucial elements within conversations with company agents, craft professional emails, brainstorm ideas, summarise reports, explain concepts, and generate business-related articles.

"Amazon Q provides immediate, relevant information and advice to employees to streamline tasks, accelerate decision-making and problem-solving, and help spark creativity and innovation at work," noted Amazon Web Services in a blog post, outlining the utility of 'Q.'

The service will be offered through tailored plans with varying features, pricing, and options for AWS users, estimated to cost between $20 and $25.

"Amazon Q can adapt its interactions to each individual user based on the existing identities, roles, and permissions of your business. It searches the documents in connected data sources and creates relevant and detailed suggestions for a social media post. Amazon Q also tells which document was used to generate the answer," explained the blog post.

Targeted toward software developers, IT professionals, business analysts, and content creators, 'Q' is presently available for preview in AWS Regions US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon), with no specific timeline announced for its global expansion.

Generative AI technology, which allows for information retrieval and content generation across various subjects, has gained momentum, exemplified by platforms like ChatGPT and Google's Bard that have garnered significant attention online. Notable hardware companies such as OnePlus, Samsung, and MediaTek are also integrating generative AI services into their products.
