New Delhi: Artificial Intelligence can potentially change the way humans will organise their social life in future.

While fears of job loss from AI is being debated, a new study says AI can help humans in ways we can’t predict today.

It can potentially detect if a person has a cold from the tone of their voices, says a report by The Economist.

The technology that helps people detect cold could also mean trouble for employees who pretend to be suffering from cold when they are alright.

The development in AI that has already taken the world by storm with ChatGPT. Now it can help employers tell if somebody has cold from the voice of their employees.

Researchers at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat analysed ‘vocal patterns of 630 people’.

The technology detected 111 out of these people as having cold by analyzing their vocal patterns .

The report in Business Insider, originally attributed to The Economist, said the study used harmonics (vocal rhythms in human speech) to detect cold.

The study finds that a person suffering from cold has an irregular pattern in harmonics.

Researchers used machine-learning algorithms to analyse amplification differences of several people to identify who has a cold.

People participated in the study were asked to count from 1 to 40 before they described how they spent the weekend.
