Wimbledon: Ace tennis player Serena Williams's comeback to the Wimbledon will stage her first-round match against debuting French player Harmony Tan. The American star Serena was out for a year, and her return to the Grand Slam event is eagerly awaited, Asian News International reported.

Serena is 23-time Grand Slam singles champion but has fallen to 1,204th in the world rankings. She is unseeded at present for the Wimbledon. In 2016, she won seven Wimbledon singles titles and reached the finals in 2018 and 2019 after she delivered a baby. Her last Grand Slam title was in the Australian Open in 2017.

In Women's doubles tournaments in Eastbourne this week, Serena played with No.3 seed Ons Jabeur.

No.1 seed Iga Swiatek will open her campaign against qualifier Jana Fett. 2017 champion Garbine Muguruza will play against star players Bianca Andreescu and Sloane Stephens.

The French Open finalist Coco Gauff will battle against Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania.

Berlin Open Champion No.3 seed Ons Jabeur will meet 2018 champion Angelique Kerber in the fourth round, while 16th seed Simona Halep will face Czech Karolina Muchova.

In men's singles, Novak Djokovic will defend his title and fight for his seventh Wimbledon title and fourth in a row against South Korea's Kwon Soon-woo, the world no. 75.

When second seed Rafael Nadal battles against Argentina's world number 42 Francisco Cerundolo in the first round, youngster Carlos Alcaraz will play Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff. Three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka will play Italian star Jannik Sinner and Nick Kyrgios of Australia will face Paul Jubb of Britain.
