New York: loosing in the quarterfinals of US Open tennis, Australian player Nick Kyrgios smashed his racket on the court in fuming fury. On Wednesday, after he lost to Russia's Karen Khachanov in five sets, Kyrgios, who is known for his bad temper, smashed his racket on the ground multiple times and threw it in force, NDTV reported.

Kyrgios is known for his uncool behaviour toward umpires, opponents, members of the audience and even his own crew.

On Wednesday, he wasn't done with racket in hand but picked another one and hurled it to the ground also.

The 27th-seed Russian won 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7 (3/7), 6-4 over the Wimbledon runner-up, Kyrgios, and made the last four. It was his first time reaching the stage in a major for the first time.

Kyrgios said after the match that he was obviously devastated, but all credit to Karen. He's a fighter and warrior, and Kyrgios praised his opponent. He said that his loss was devastating for him as well as those who wished to see him win

"I feel like I've just failed at this event right now. That's what it feels like," he said about his defeat to Khachanov.

He further said that he felt like he had failed at the event and didn't even care about any other tournament. "Like, I feel like at the Grand Slams, now having success at a Grand Slam, it's just like no other tournament really matters," NDTV quoted him

This year, the 27-year-old Kyrgios had reached the final of Wimbledon but lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets. Djokovic had won his 21st Grand Slam title then.
