Chateauroux: India's star shooter and first medalist in the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker, joined hands with Sarabjot Singh to bring another bronze to the Indian tally after they finished third in the 10m air pistol mixed team here on Tuesday. The duo defeated South Korea, scripting history at the Paris Games, PTI reported.

The Indian pair defeated the Koreans 16-10 to earn the country its second medal at the quadrennial showpiece, and in the process, made Bhaker the first Indian post-independence to bag two medals in a single edition of the Games. British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, but that achievement was in the pre-Independence era.

Bhaker had earlier bagged the bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the same venue.

Sarabjot Singh, who passed through a difficult phase trying to come to terms with the disappointment of the individual competition just three days back, told PTI that he was under a lot of pressure to perform. "I'm feeling good; the game was very tough, and there was a lot of pressure; I am very happy," said the 22-year-old Sarabjot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the duo.

"Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to

@realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted. For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication. #Cheer4Bharat" he wrote on X.
