Doha: Qatar launched its new national emblem for its activities for the upcoming FIFA 2022 World Cup it is going to host. The tweaked emblem was launched, in a ceremony at the National Museum of Qatar, nearly two months before FIFA entered the stage, IANS reported.

The region will be hosting the grand football event for the first time.

The new emblem features two crossed swords holding a traditional boat in the sea and two palm trees. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani unveiled the new emblem, aiming to create a unified visual identity for all state authorities.

A documentary showed the evolution of the state emblem after it was launched in 1966. Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that the new emblem preserves the historical components and their indications and bears the values, history and heritage of the State of Qatar to collectively constitute a visual symbol. It also indicates the characteristics and features of the country, the report said.

The emblem is designed in a modern style. The swords were inspired by the founder of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani, while the palm trees denote the country's prude, generosity and giving. The boat denotes its period of the economy based on pearl fishing, QNA reported.

The emblem also embodies the citizens of Qatar- sons of sea and desert, the tools of production and harvest and the protection of security and peace.

The colour scheme is as same as the Qatar flag; maroon and white.

Further, the country unveiled its world cup jersey of maroon (home) and white (away). The shirts have been designed by global sports goods giant Nike.

Nike said, "The Qatari home kit combines desert maroon with white serrated trim to mirror the Qatari flag. The crest on the upper chest highlights Qatar's host nation status. The away kit evokes the coastline of Qatar while a subtle string of pearls graphic overlay nods to the history of pearl-diving in the coastal atolls. In motion, the kit is meant to resemble a sandstorm swirling in the arid sun."

Nike further stated that kits and training kits are underpinned by Dri-FIT ADV, its pinnacle apparel material platform. Match kits and training apparel combine rigorous data with a comprehensive computational design based on a 4D model to create a cutting-edge, lightweight kit, Nike added.

According to Nike, the new seamless kit is engineered pixel by pixel to provide precise reinforcement and to vent for distraction-free play.
