London: Former Premier League champions Chelsea have officially parted ways with head coach Enzo Maresca following a poor run of form in the 2025–26 season, with the West London club registering just one win from their last seven league outings.

Chelsea recently dropped points again at Stamford Bridge, settling for a 2–2 draw against Bournemouth. The six-time Premier League winners are currently fifth in the league standings with 30 points and are scheduled to face Manchester City on Sunday. In Europe, the club is placed 13th in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Confirming the decision, Chelsea said in a statement: “Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company. During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions.”

The statement added that with key objectives still at stake across four competitions, including qualification for the Champions League, both parties felt a managerial change would offer the best opportunity to revive the season. The club also wished Maresca well for the future.

Maresca was appointed Chelsea manager in July 2024 and oversaw 92 matches during his tenure, recording an impressive 55 victories. He claimed his first trophy with the club on May 28, 2025, guiding Chelsea to a 4–1 win over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final, a triumph that made Chelsea the only club to have won all three current major UEFA competitions.

In July 2025, Maresca added another title by leading Chelsea to victory in the inaugural expanded FIFA Club World Cup, defeating reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 in the final.

The two titles secured in his first year marked a highly successful start, but a downturn in results during his second season strained relations with supporters and the club’s hierarchy. This ultimately resulted in his departure three years before the expiry of his contract, which was set to run until 2029.
