Birmingham: Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu proceeds to the final of the Commonwealth Games (CWG), her second successive women's singles final in the tournament, on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Hyderabad-based star beat Singapore's Yeo Jia Min 21-19 21-17 in straight sets, using her technical superiority in a 49-minute battle. Sindhu, who won Silver and Bronze in the 2018 and 2014 CWG editions, exhibited that she was the better player throughout the match, PTI reported.

It didn't matter that she had strapped the Achilles of her left leg, which restricted her movement. Her opponent had made an early lead of 8-4, but she allowed Sindhu to catch up. Before the break, Sindhu was leading with two points.

Sindhu produced the right shots at the right time, and Yeo Jia Min kept making errors, giving the upper hand to her opponent.

Later the Singaporean used her cross-court slices to challenge the Indian but couldn't make much out of it. Sindhu sealed the set.

In the second set also, Yeo made a good start. But Sindhu caught up again, and the game went into playing some intense rallies. But Sindhu was in good control and made the lead just before halftime.

An erratic Yeo gave Sindhu more points after the break and sealed the second set, too, entering into the final of women's singles badminton.
