Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has officially entered the world of esports by acquiring the Mumbai franchise for the second season of the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL).

The announcement was made by JetSynthesys, a prominent name in digital entertainment and technology, which is spearheading the league.

The GEPL, recognised as the world’s largest e-cricket and entertainment league, is played on Real Cricket - a popular game boasting over 300 million downloads. Since its inaugural season, the league has witnessed remarkable growth, with registrations skyrocketing from 200,000 to 910,000. With a multiplatform reach exceeding 70 million and over 2.4 million minutes of content streamed on JioCinema and Sports18, GEPL has quickly established itself as a leader in cricket esports.

Sara Tendulkar’s involvement in the league aligns with GEPL’s emphasis on regionalisation, innovation, and expanding cricket fandom in the digital era. Her ownership of the Mumbai team reflects her deep connection to the city and her enthusiasm for esports. As a prominent influencer and Gen Z representative, her entry into the esports scene is expected to attract a broader audience and enhance the league’s appeal.

JetSynthesys CEO and Founder, Rajan Navani, expressed his excitement about Sara’s participation, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Sara Tendulkar as the owner of the Mumbai franchise. Her passion for sports and esports, along with her popularity, makes her an excellent partner in our mission to bring esports to a wider audience. Her involvement will undoubtedly help expand GEPL’s reach and inspire aspiring players.”

Sharing her excitement, Sara Tendulkar said, “Cricket has always been a part of my family’s legacy. Venturing into esports is an exciting new chapter. Owning the Mumbai franchise in GEPL combines my love for the game and my affection for the city. I’m looking forward to working with our talented team to build a franchise that resonates with fans and provides inspiration and entertainment.”

GEPL’s CEO & League Commissioner, Rohit Potphode, also welcomed Sara to the league, calling her involvement a “milestone moment” for the competition. He emphasised that her influence and connection with fans would contribute significantly to GEPL’s growth as it prepares for a more competitive and expansive second season.

Building on its initial success, GEPL Season 2 is set to feature expanded team formats, advanced league dynamics, and cutting-edge gameplay through Real Cricket 24, known for its strategic depth and realism. The season will culminate in a grand finale scheduled for May 2025, where the top teams will compete for the prestigious title of ‘e-Cricket Icon’ on a global stage.

With Sara Tendulkar’s arrival, GEPL aims to bridge the gap between traditional sports and digital entertainment, propelling cricket esports to new heights.
