Sanju Samson hits five sixes in one over, smashes maiden T20I century
text_fieldsIndia's wicket keeper-batter Sanju Samson delivered a sensational performance on Saturday, scoring his maiden T20I century during the third and final match of the series against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
Samson reached the landmark in just 40 balls, making him the second fastest Indian to score a T20I century.
On his way to this achievement, he took Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain to task, smashing five consecutive sixes in the 10th over. Samson was eventually dismissed for an impressive 117 off 47 balls by Mustafizur Rahman in the 14th over.
India had already secured the series with a 2-0 lead, and this match presented an opportunity for a clean sweep.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav opted to bat first after winning the toss, looking to build a strong total. "It's important to maintain good habits after winning the series. We want to give freedom to our batters, regardless of the game situation," said Yadav, wishing fans a happy Dussehra.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, made two changes to their playing eleven, including Tanzid Tamim and Mahedi Hasan, while veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah played his final T20I match. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said he was content to bowl first and emphasized the need for consistency in their performance.
