Indian captain Rohit Sharma continued his impressive form in ODI cricket, achieving a significant milestone during the second match against Sri Lanka.

With a half-century in the first ODI and another scintillating 66 off 44 balls in the second, Rohit has overtaken Sachin Tendulkar to record the most fifty-plus scores for India in international cricket.

Rohit's latest innings featured five fours and four sixes, scoring at a strike rate of over 145. This performance places him fourth on the list of India's highest run-scorers in ODIs, surpassing Rahul Dravid. In his 264-match career, Rohit has amassed 10,831 runs at an average of 49.23 and a strike rate of 92.29, including 31 centuries and 57 fifties.

His top score remains 264.

As an opener, Rohit now holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores for India in international cricket, surpassing Tendulkar's tally. Rohit has 121 fifty-plus scores (43 centuries and 78 fifties), compared to Tendulkar's 120 (45 centuries and 75 fifties).

This marks Rohit's fourth fifty in ODIs within the first 10 overs, closing in on Virender Sehwag's record of seven such fifties. Since January 2023, Rohit has hit 54 sixes in the first 10 overs of ODIs, leading significantly over Australia's David Warner, who has 24 sixes in the same period. In these 28 innings, Rohit has scored 1,377 runs at an average of 52.96, including two centuries and 11 fifties, with a top score of 131.

In the match against Sri Lanka, the visitors won the toss and chose to bat first. Contributions from Avishka Fernando (40 off 62 balls), Kamindu Mendis (40 off 44 balls), and Dunith Wellalage (39 off 35 balls) helped Sri Lanka reach 240/9 in their 50 overs.

For India, Washington Sundar (3/30) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/33) were the standout bowlers, with Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel each taking a wicket.
