Cricket: Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag ridiculed the Bangladesh cricket team, saying that “as if they are an incredible team”. He told Cricbuzz that he didn’t believe that Indian fans would be having tension about the Bangladesh team.

India made a dominating performance against Bangladesh in their first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, riding over pacer Mohammed Shami and a century by Shubman Gill. Though it had a grip during its chase against the neighbours, it lost three wickets in the space of 32 runs, which sparked a concern. Sehwag was commenting bullishly on this, saying that slamming the team.

"I don't think there would have been any tension among the fans. It's Bangladesh. You guys have made me praise them so much as if they are an incredible team. It's Bangladesh, not Australia or Pakistan, who could cause something unpredictable. I don't think there would have been even one per cent of fear in the hearts of any fan during that match," Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh, who decided to bat first, had fallen to 35/5 but got rescued later to a total of 228 with the help of a century by Towhid Hridoy and fifty by Jaker Ali (68).

Sehwag said that it was a very easy game, and India chased the total with almost four overs to spare. Gill was composed and played slowly had Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer remained in the crease; the team would have finished the chase in 35 overs, Sehwag claimed.

"Scared of Bangladesh? I never had any fear when I was playing, so what would I have been scared of today in this studio," he said.
