The triumph in Mohali on Friday was characterised by a brilliant performance from Mohammed Shami, who showcased his crafty bowling skills with figures of 5 for 51, underlining his prowess as a skilled bowler. Australia, batting first at India's request, was limited to a total of 276.
In response, Shubman Gill played a pivotal role with his elegant and poised innings, contributing a 63-ball 74. He formed a crucial opening partnership worth 142 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 71 off 77 balls. This partnership laid the foundation for India's victory, which, although appearing challenging on paper, was achieved comfortably in 48.4 overs.
