Doha: Former Pakistani cricket captain Shahid Afridi has called for the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to allow cricket matches to take place between Pakistan and India.

Amidst the hosting controversy surrounding the Asia Cup 2023, Afridi emphasized the need for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take responsibility and work towards normalizing relations between the two countries.

While speaking at the Legends League Cricket (LLC) match in Qatar, Afridi praised the strong BCCI and claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was not weak but was met with answers from the BCCI as well.

He expressed his desire to "spread the love" and cited the 2005 series between the two countries where no one demanded money from the Indian cricket players.

Regarding security concerns in Pakistan, Afridi stated that many international teams had recently travelled to Pakistan without any issues, and Pakistan faced security threats from India as well.

If the government of both countries grants permission, the tour will happen, but if not, the people will be given a chance. Afridi urged that cricket should not be used as a tool to fuel animosity between the two nations.
