Indian-origin Australian teen singer Janaki Easwar will be performing at the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne. The closing ceremony is to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

She gained fame while participating in the reality show The Voice in Australia. At the time, she was the youngest contestant in the show's history and captured hearts with a rendition of Billie Eilish's "Lovely." She surprised the judges and audience by singing in raga Kamas. The singer-songwriter also flaunted her heritage on the reality show through her clothes and style. She was first introduced to Indian music at the age of five and has been taking Carnatic music lessons.

Her parents Anoop Divakaran and Divya Raveendran hail from Kozhikode. The family has been living in Australia for the past 15 years.

The 13-year-old will be performing with the Australian rock group Icehouse and take charge of the second song '"Icehouse's We Can Get Together," which will also feature Zimbabwean-born Thando Sikwila.

Speaking about her excitement for the upcoming event, she said performing in front of a massive MCG crowd and getting broadcast to millions of people globally will be an unbelievable experience. "My parents are ardent cricket fans. It is through them that I got to know the magnitude of this opportunity. I heard that the tickets are already sold out. I am looking forward to performing and also the game," reported The Indian Express.

She added that the experience would have been nice if India was playing in the final. India was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals after losing to England by 10 wickets.
