Partial lunar eclipse to be sighted from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam on Nov 19
text_fieldsThe India Meteorological Department on Thursday informed that a partial lunar eclipse shall occur on November 19. A small span of the partial phase of the eclipse towards the end would be visible from parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India. It would also be visible from western Africa, western Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
"The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 12.48 p.m. and will end at 4.17 p.m.," the IMD said. After this, the next lunar eclipse to be sighted from India will be the total lunar eclipse on November 2, 2022.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes in between the Sun and Moon, and all three are aligned. While a total lunar eclipse occurs when the entire Moon comes under the umbral shadow of the Earth, a partial one happens when only a part of the Moon comes under the umbral shadow.
