Will suspend aid in Gaza if aid workers lay unprotected: UN to Israel
text_fieldsWashington: The United Nations told Israel that the global organisation will suspend aid operations across Gaza if urgent steps are not taken to protect humanitarian workers, the Associated Press reported.
A UN letter sent to senior Israeli officials this month said Israel must provide UN workers with direct communication with Israeli forces on the ground in Gaza, among other steps the officials said.
They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing negotiations with Israeli officials. The UN officials say there has been no final decision on suspending operations across Gaza and that talks with Israelis were ongoing.
The UN World Food Program has already suspended aid delivery from a US-built pier in Gaza over security concerns.
Israeli military officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In another news, Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the newly re-elected Member of Parliament for Hyderabad, concluded his oath by invoking Palestine, along with slogans such as Jai Bhim, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, and Takbir, in solidarity with the war-torn people of Palestine.
Following the conclusion of his oath in Urdu, Owaisi expressed several slogans, including 'Jai Bhim,' 'Jai Meem,' 'Jai Telangana,' 'Jai Palestine,' 'Takbir,' and 'Allah Hu Akbar.' His declaration, especially the 'Jai Palestine' remark, underscores his strong support for the Palestinian people who are enduring devastation amid the ongoing Israeli conflict in Gaza.
