Young innovator from Kerala wins Rs 1.28Cr in Dubai Apps Championship
text_fieldsDubai: Sulthana Safeer, a native of Kollam, has won the first prize in the ‘Create Apps Championship’ organized by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. She received a reward of USD 150,000, equivalent to approximately Rs 1.28 crore.
The award was presented by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE.
Sulthana emerged victorious among 4,710 contestants from 132 countries. Twelve entries were shortlisted for the final round, with the competition divided into four categories. She won in the “Best Youth-Made App” category.
Sulthana is the daughter of Safeer, who work in the construction sector, and Rijaya from Fujairah. The championship was announced by Sheikh Hamdan in March this year. Last year, the competition saw 1,100 entries, while this year witnessed a 328% increase in participation.
