Dubai: The UAE has issued instructions for online learning for students in public schools across the country on Fridays during Ramadan. The Ministry of Education of the UAE announced a home-based learning system as part of the ‘Ramadan with Family’ initiative. The scheme was initiated last year with the aim of allowing families to spend more time together during the month of Ramadan.

Private school regulatory bodies in various emirates have issued guidelines regarding school hours during the month of Ramadan. The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has been allowed to set its own Ramadan timetable. However, the official circular has clarified that school hours should not exceed six hours. The circular states that schools can set the start and end times of schools during Ramadan, ensuring continuity and quality of learning, in accordance with the requirements of the approved academic calendar and curriculum. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the private education regulatory body in Dubai, has announced the Ramadan school times.

The direction is that school hours should not exceed five hours and should end at 11.30 am on Fridays.
