As winter arrives, petrol stations across the country are implementing safety measures to ensure public safety during the chilly season. The "Winter National Awareness Campaign for Safety and Security at Fuel Stations," launched by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, focuses on promoting safe practices at both land and marine refuelling stations.

The campaign, which coincides with the busy winter camping and holiday season, runs from December 23, 2024, to January 23, 2025. This period typically sees a surge in activity at fuel stations, necessitating heightened safety precautions.

Motorists visiting land-based fuel stations are urged to follow these essential safety measures:

- Refrain from smoking at the station.

- Avoid leaving children unattended in vehicles.

- Adhere to specific refuelling instructions for motorcycles to prevent fuel leaks or fires.

For those refuelling boats and jet skis, the campaign advises:

- Ensuring the engine is turned off before refuelling.

- Properly securing vessels to avoid accidents during the process.

In addition to these guidelines, the campaign emphasizes the dangers of flammable materials and the importance of following instructions provided by fuel station staff.

This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, and leading petroleum companies, including ENOC, ADNOC and Emarat. The goal is to enhance public awareness and minimize risks, ensuring a safe refuelling experience for all visitors during the winter season.
