Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, has unveiled a scheme to train one million people in artificial intelligence (AI) prompt engineering over the next three years, as reported by the Dubai government media office. The initiative aligns with Dubai's Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, aiming to expedite the adoption of AI applications.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of staying abreast of technological advancements, citing the need for new skills in labour markets. He highlighted prompt engineering as a crucial skill in the current technological landscape, stating Dubai's commitment to becoming a future-ready city.

Prompt engineering involves creating precise instructions for AI systems to achieve desired outcomes across various tasks. The training courses will include competitions to showcase participants' skills.

The announcement coincided with Sheikh Hamdan honouring the winners of the Global Prompt Engineering Championship, organized by the Dubai Future Foundation and Dubai's Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Participants from around the world competed in coding, literature and art sections, with Dh1 million ($272,290) in prize money awarded.

Sheikh Hamdan praised the participants' performances and expressed the intention to expand the competition to attract more talent from diverse sectors.

“This global championship witnessed outstanding performances from some of the world's most promising talents in prompt engineering," said Sheikh Hamdan.

"We aim for this competition to become an annual global platform that empowers talents and highlights the importance of co-operation among stakeholders to shape a better future for societies through technological progress”, he added.
