Sharjah extends distance learning for private schools due to unstable weather

Sharjah: Sharjah authorities have announced an extension of distance learning for private schools in the emirate, citing unstable weather conditions.

Following two days of online classes, students will continue studying remotely on Thursday, April 18, to ensure their safety, according to local government authorities.

The decision to extend distance learning was made by the emirate's emergency, crisis and disaster management team, in coordination with the Sharjah Private Education Authority.

Sharjah initially announced the transition to distance learning on Monday, as the UAE prepared for adverse weather conditions. Initially, students were directed to stay home for two days, from Tuesday to Wednesday.

While schools across the country are currently conducting online classes, authorities in other emirates have not yet issued a decision on the extension of distance learning. The UAE continues to grapple with the aftermath of the heaviest rainfall it has experienced in 75 years.
