Dubai: Yesterday, March 15, marked a special occasion for 10-year-old Omar Saood Al Malih as he celebrated Emirati Children's Day by stepping into the shoes of a passport officer at Dubai International Airport. Under the guidance of airport staff, Omar experienced firsthand the responsibilities and procedures involved in passport verification.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) made efforts to turn Omar's dream a reality. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of GDRFA Dubai, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, "This reflects our dedication to positively engaging with children's aspirations and enhancing the capabilities of future generations."

Omar's performance received accolades from Lieutenant General Al Marri, who remarked, "Omar could be one of GDRFA officers in the future." This recognition validates Omar's efforts and highlights the impact of such immersive experiences in shaping career aspirations from a young age.

Emirati Children's Day holds profound importance in the UAE, commemorating the publication of the 'Wadimah' child rights document in 2016. Sheikha Fatima, President of the Supreme Council for Childhood and Supreme Chairperson for Family Development emphasized the UAE's commitment to safeguarding children's rights and promoting their well-being.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE's dedication to nurturing its youth for a sustainable and prosperous future. In a tweet, he emphasized, "Our children lie at the heart of our vision for the future," reaffirming the country's belief in investing in children's development.

Through initiatives like Emirati Children's Day and the support of organizations like GDRFA Dubai, the nation continues to prioritize the well-being and aspirations of its younger generation.
