Dubai traffic: RTA’s Oud Metha road works cut travel time by 40%
text_fieldsDubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of targeted traffic enhancements in Oud Metha as part of its 2024 Quick Traffic Solutions Plan. This initiative aims to optimize the city’s road network, aligning with the RTA’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure to meet the needs of Dubai’s urban expansion and rising population. The upgrades are designed to facilitate smoother traffic flow and improve road safety for all commuters.
As part of the improvements, entry and exit points from Umm Hurair Street to Oud Metha were upgraded with the addition of 317 meters of deceleration and acceleration lanes, accommodating both inbound and outbound traffic more efficiently. Additionally, a service road exit on Umm Hurair Street was expanded from two lanes to three over a 100-meter stretch, increasing road capacity by 50% and reducing journey times by 40%.
“RTA had implemented a series of quick enhancements, including road lighting, to facilitate smoother traffic flow and support both population growth and the thriving business activities in Oud Metha. This area hosts a range of residential, commercial, medical, social, cultural, and sports facilities, and these measures will contribute to reducing accidents and ensuring the highest safety standards”, said Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.
The strategic improvements in Oud Metha are set to support the area’s diverse range of facilities and enhance traffic management, reducing congestion and prioritizing safety for the growing number of residents and businesses in the region.
