Dubai Police has honoured Hamada Abu Zeid, an Egyptian taxi driver, for his honesty in returning valuables worth Dh1 million that were left behind in his car. The announcement was made on Sunday, with Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Al Barsha Police Station, awarding Abu Zeid a certificate of appreciation for his commendable actions.

Dubai Police highlighted the significance of Abu Zeid's actions, emphasizing that his act represents "the noble values of integrity and responsibility" that the force promotes within the community. The recognition underscores the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and security across the city.

Abu Zeid expressed his gratitude for the recognition, saying that it was his duty to return the items to the authorities, ensuring they could be returned to their rightful owner.

This is not the first instance of Dubai Police acknowledging residents for their good deeds. Last month, two residents, Yasir Hayat Khan Sheer and Nishan Rai Bijab Kumar Ray, were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Bur Dubai Police Station for their role in promoting community safety and security through their ethical conduct.

In June, a young boy named Ahmad was also honoured by Dubai Police for returning a wallet containing a sum of money that he found in the Al Muhaisnah 4 area. He handed the wallet over to the Al Qusais Police Station, enabling the officers to locate its owner. Ahmad was awarded a certificate and a special token of appreciation, with a ceremony held in his school to celebrate his honesty in front of his classmates.

Additionally, in 2022, eight residents were recognised for their honesty after returning Dh55,274 in lost cash. These examples reflect the ongoing efforts of Dubai Police to encourage integrity and responsibility within the community by acknowledging and rewarding individuals who demonstrate such values.
