American University in Dubai partners with Penn Medicine to establish UAE’s first American medical school
text_fieldsThe American University in Dubai (AUD) has officially launched its partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine to establish the UAE’s first American medical school.
The announcement came at a ceremony attended by Dr. J. Larry Jameson, President of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kyle Long, President of AUD, Elias Bou Saab, Executive Vice President of AUD, Dr. Glen Gaulton, Vice Dean at Penn Medicine, as well as government officials, healthcare leaders and academic representatives.
The new AUD School of Medicine will offer a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program that blends U.S. medical education standards with a focus on the UAE’s healthcare needs. It aims to serve as a hub for education, research and clinical training, preparing physicians to deliver high-quality care locally and globally.
"In this collaboration, we aim to support the establishment of the UAE’s premier academic medical institution", said Dr. Jameson.
Elias Bou Saab, Executive Vice President of AUD, said, “With Dubai’s advanced healthcare ecosystem and the partnership with Penn Medicine, AUD is proud to take this historic milestone forward".
The School of Medicine is expected to act as a catalyst for healthcare innovation across the region. By building collaborations with hospitals, research centers and technology partners, it will promote advances in biomedicine, clinical practice and public health.
