Abu Dhabi Indian School launches golden jubilee celebrations
text_fieldsAbu Dhabi Indian School began its golden jubilee celebrations on Sunday with an inaugural ceremony held at its campus, marking 50 years since the institution’s establishment.
The opening of the anniversary year was inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, in the presence of Yusuffali M.A., chairman of Abu Dhabi Indian School.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Nahyan said, “I congratulate all of you on 50 successful years of Abu Dhabi Indian School. This milestone reflects the central role of education in shaping both the present and the future of the United Arab Emirates".
He added, “Under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE continues to place strong emphasis on the development of its education system and the advancement of its youth”.
Sheikh Nahyan also praised the school’s Board of Trustees, led by Yusuffali M.A., for its leadership and direction.
Yusuffali M.A. said Abu Dhabi Indian School represents the longstanding relationship between India and the UAE.
“Abu Dhabi Indian School stands as a testament to the historic ties and enduring friendship between India and the UAE. The Indian community in Abu Dhabi will always remain grateful to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, for generously donating the land for the construction of this institution”, he said.
Founded in 1975 with 59 students, the school now educates close to 5,000 students each year. It has an alumni base of more than 200,000 students working across different countries and professions.
The school is recognised as a leading CBSE institution in the UAE, with a record of academic performance and participation in sports, cultural activities and community programs.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by students, parents, alumni and members of the Indian expatriate community.
Dignitaries present included Dr Balaji Ramaswamy, counsellor at the Indian Embassy; Prof Shantanu Roy, executive director of IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi; Dr Ram Shankar, director of CBSE Dubai; Mohan Jashanmal, founder chairman of the Jashanmal Group; Adeeb Ahamed, managing director of Lulu Financial Holdings; Saifee Rupawala, chief executive officer of Lulu Group; and Indian playback singer and alumnus Benny Dayal.
Senior members of the school’s board of governors, including vice chairman Sharad Bhandari, education head Shabeer M.M., K. Muraleedharan, Ramchandra and principal Rishi Padegaonkar, were also in attendance.
