Ukraine: Japan holds talks with Saudi on latter's oil production

Riyadh: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio held talks on Thursday on Saudi's oil production amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Arab News reported.

Japanese PM praised Saudi's role in stabilising the global crude oil market. They are discussing bilateral cooperation, including Saudi-Japan Vision 2030.

Japanese PM said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is outrageous and violates a series of International laws. He expressed his intention to strengthen coordination with Saudi, placing the Kingdom as a strategic partner to Japan since Saudi has a crucial place among Arab countries.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday visited the UAE and Saudi Arabia to bolster UK economic and business ties with the two nations.

The Russian invasion and subsequent sanctions imposed on Moscow's oil exports has widened the gap between demand and supply. This has led the globe to look towards the Middle East for supplies to compensate for Russian oil. On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Borris Johnson has visited UAE and Saudi Arabia to reinforce economic and business ties, Arab News reports.

Meanwhile, following a royal order from King Salman of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom's General Directorate of Passports proclaimed on Thursday its decision to extend visas for Ukraine nationals in the country,

The extension is on humanitarian consideration and will be granted irrespective of being tourists or there for business and will be without fees. Those in need of the extension need not approach the passport department as the process will be automatic, the department said.
