Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital platform called Qari’e to give people with visual impairments better access to books.

The platform was introduced by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission in cooperation with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities. It is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to promote cultural and intellectual inclusion and ensure equal access to knowledge for all.

Qari’e features assistive tools such as screen reader support, text magnifiers and other technologies that help visually impaired users read digital content more easily. It offers high-quality books in multiple languages and provides free subscriptions to local and international digital libraries. The platform also includes full technical support for users.

The launch of Qari’e supports Saudi Arabia’s goals under Vision 2030 to create a knowledge-based society. The launch also follows the Marrakesh Treaty, which aims to make published works more accessible to people with visual disabilities.
