Riyadh: The Ministry of Education has appointed Mona Al-Ajmi as its new spokesperson, announced on Sunday, just days ahead of the new academic year.

Al-Ajmi is the second woman to hold the position, following Ibtisam Al-Shehri, who served from 2019 to 2023 and became the first Saudi woman to act as an official spokesperson for a government ministry.

The ministry said the appointment is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public engagement and enhance media communication.

Al-Ajmi completed her secondary education in Kuwait and earned a bachelor’s degree in education, majoring in English, from King Faisal University. She has held several leadership roles, including supervisor of the Department of Private and Foreign Education in Al-Ahsa.

She holds multiple professional certifications, including from the De Bono Thinking Systems Center, the Stephen Covey Institute for the Seven Habits program and Cairo University’s Trainer of Trainers (ToT) program. She is also certified in thinking strategies, education and human development.
