Saudi Arabia rolls out robotic surgery, PET-CT scanner for Hajj healthcare

Saudi Arabia has unveiled cutting-edge medical technologies at King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah, enhancing healthcare services for millions of Hajj pilgrims, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.
The facility has introduced a state-of-the-art robotic surgery system that will be deployed across thoracic surgery, urology and oncology procedures. The new technology aims to improve surgical precision, reduce recovery times and elevate patient outcomes, particularly during the high-demand Hajj season.
In another first, the hospital has also launched the Ministry’s first PET-CT scanner in the western region. This advanced diagnostic tool is expected to significantly boost early detection of cancers, cardiovascular issues and neurological conditions, paving the way for faster and more accurate treatments.
These medical upgrades align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which places a strong emphasis on innovation and excellence in healthcare.
