Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has launched the Ramadan iftar project in India as part of the King Salman Ramadan Aid Programme, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. The project aims to feed 80,000 families in various states and cities of India during the month of Ramadan.

The project was inaugurated at the Religious Attaché Office at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in New Delhi. In collaboration with universities, associations and Islamic centres in India, the iftar project is coordinated under the supervision of Saudi Islamic Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Al-Sheikh and Saudi Ambassador to India Dr Saud al-Sati.

Indian Muslims praised Saudi Arabia's efforts in serving Islam and Muslims around the world and expressed gratitude to the Saudi government.

During the last year's Ramadan, Saudi Arabia had launched Ramadan iftar projects of SR5 million ($1.3M) in 18 countries to provide meals, including the supply of food baskets containing all the food requirements of families, for 1 million people.
