The Saudi Red Crescent Authority's Makkah branch has heightened its preparedness in response to warnings of heavy rainfall issued by the National Center for Meteorology.

On Monday, heavy rain and thunderstorms affected multiple regions across the Kingdom, including Makkah and Madinah. The Civil Defense anticipates that the adverse weather conditions will persist until Wednesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The authority announced that its command-and-control room, ambulance stations, rapid response teams and volunteer ambulance units in Makkah are fully operational. To ensure effective emergency response, the Makkah region has deployed teams comprising doctors, specialists and emergency medical technicians.

A total of 1,420 personnel are on standby, supported by 149 vehicles, including advanced ambulances, disaster response units and an air ambulance for critical cases. The Saudi Press Agency highlighted the availability of these resources to manage potential emergencies.

The authority urged citizens and residents to adhere to official safety guidelines, exercise caution, and prioritize road safety during the heavy rainfall. Additionally, the public was requested to cooperate with ambulance teams by clearing the roads to allow swift passage for emergency responders.

Operating round the clock, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority emphasized that individuals can request ambulance services through the emergency hotline 997 or via the Asefne app.
