The Jeddah Book Fair closed its 2025 edition after a 10-day run that drew more than 650,000 visitors. Held from December 11 to 20 under the theme “Jeddah Reads”, the fair brought together over 1,000 publishing houses and cultural organizations from 24 countries, filling more than 400 booths and presenting about 195,000 book titles.

Abdul Latif Al-Wasel, CEO of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, said the fair reflects ongoing changes in the Kingdom’s cultural sector and represents progress in building a stronger publishing industry while encouraging wider intellectual engagement.

Organizers expanded this year’s program to include more than 176 activities such as seminars, workshops and book-signing events, offering a variety of options for different audiences. A children’s zone provided interactive educational experiences and contributed to increased family attendance.

For the first time, the fair screened Saudi films as part of its cultural schedule, adding a visual-storytelling component and showcasing local creative work.

The event also incorporated upgraded digital tools, including electronic ticketing and interactive maps, to improve access and visitor flow throughout the venue.

The Jeddah Book Fair is one of the main projects within the Saudi Book Fairs Initiative, part of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission’s 2020–2025 plan focused on supporting the publishing market, expanding cultural participation and contributing to the national economy.
