The Indian Embassy in Riyadh hosted its first Christmas carol and New Year celebration. The program was held at the embassy auditorium in the Diplomatic Quarter and organised in coordination with members of the Indian diaspora in the capital.
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by Abu Mathen George, Deputy Chief of Mission. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony led by First Secretary Y. Sabir, who exchanged festive greetings and sweets with attendees.
Several community figures and officials attended the celebration, including embassy staff, socio-cultural leaders, and representatives from the Indian community. Among those present were Shihab Kottukad, Siyaqam Khan and Dr. Saleem.
The program featured Christmas carol performances by congregation groups representing different Indian states. Cultural performances by children and adults were also staged during the evening. The venue was decorated with a Christmas tree, festive ornaments and seasonal décor, while a Santa Claus appearance added to the celebrations.
Organisers said the event reflected cooperation between the embassy and the Indian community in Riyadh. Coordination of the programme was carried out by a team that included Revel Antony Abel, Satheesh K.
