Riyadh: The Embassy of India in Riyadh hosted ‘Gita Mahotsav – A Musical’ on the concluding day of Pravasi Parichay 2025, presenting a musical drama inspired by the Bhagavad Gita.

The event opened with a video message from Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, congratulating the Indian community in Saudi Arabia. The performance featured female students from Vaidehi Nritha Vidyalayam, Riyadh, who depicted the Gita’s themes through music and dance.

Ambassador of India Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan said the Gita Mahotsav aimed to highlight the cultural and spiritual ties linking the Indian diaspora with India’s heritage. He added that the event sought to promote reflection on the Gita’s message of harmony, duty and selfless action. Dr. Khan noted that the Riyadh celebration echoed the spirit of the International Gita Mahotsav to be held later this month in Kurukshetra, Haryana.

Padma Shri awardee and Sangeet Natak Akademi honoree Pratibha Prahlad attended the event as a special guest.

The celebration was part of the Embassy’s Pravasi Parichay series, launched in 2023 to showcase India’s cultural traditions through community participation in the Kingdom. According to the Embassy, ‘Gita Mahotsav – A Musical’ reflected this vision by combining art, devotion and philosophy in a format accessible to all audiences.
