Doha: Qatar authorities have made 10-day hotel quarantine mandatory on all people, including those who have received the vaccine, coming from India.

Amid the rise in the COVID cases, the hotel quarantine has also been made compulsory for travellers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the Philippines, the Indian Embassy tweeted.

Upon entry, passengers must present a negative Covid-19 PCR certificate taken within 48 hours before boarding. Passengers from these countries have also been advised to check the availability of hotel facility with Qatar Airways Holidays.

Earlier, Qatar had waived quarantine for those immunized with two jabs of Covid vaccine and if they meet a host of requirements, which has now been replaced with the new guidelines for the aforementioned 6 countries.

Qatari nationals, their close relatives, and permanent residency holders are permitted to travel outside and enter the state given that they adhere to all covid-related measures upon their entry. Those arriving from covid hotspots must quarantine at hotels while travellers from low-risk countries can quarantine at home.

As of Monday, the Ministry of Public Health reported 703 new Covid-19 cases and 1578 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 183100.
