New Delhi: The Indian government has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a historic visit to Kuwait on December 21-22. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the government emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

"India and Kuwait share traditionally close and friendly relations which are rooted in history and have been underpinned by economic and strong people-to-people linkages. India is among the top trading partners of Kuwait," the statement read.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to engage in high-level discussions with Kuwaiti leadership, focusing on enhancing cooperation in key sectors. Additionally, he will interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, which forms a significant part of the country's expatriate population.

The visit provides an opportunity to further bolster multifaceted ties between the two nations. These include trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, which have flourished over decades. India remains one of Kuwait’s top trading partners, with bilateral trade contributing significantly to economic ties.

This visit reflects the importance of Kuwait within India's broader engagement with the Gulf region, a cornerstone of New Delhi’s foreign policy. Both countries are expected to explore new avenues of collaboration during this historic trip.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit highlights the enduring partnership between India and Kuwait, paving the way for stronger economic and cultural relations.
