Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks as air defences intercept drones and missiles
text_fieldsKuwait on Monday strongly condemned what it described as repeated Iranian attacks, calling them a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the country’s security and stability.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constitute a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
The ministry warned that the attacks pose a serious risk to civilians and critical infrastructure, adding that their continuation undermines efforts to reduce tensions and threatens regional security and stability.
Kuwait said it categorically rejects such hostile acts and affirmed its right to take all necessary measures to protect its security and territory.
The ministry also held Iran fully responsible for the attacks under international law, the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.
Earlier on Monday, the Kuwaiti Army said its air defence systems had engaged hostile drones and missiles.
In a brief statement, the General Staff said loud explosions heard in some parts of the country were the result of successful mid-air interceptions.
Authorities urged the public to follow safety instructions issued by the relevant agencies.
