Covid19: Kuwait extends night curfew for two more weeks
text_fieldsThe partial lockdown imposed in Kuwait last month is now going to be extended for another two weeks, a government spokesman said. The night curfew hours will be reduced by one more hour, from 7PM to 5AM, starting from April 8 until April 22.
The Kuwait cabinet has eased the restrictions such as permitting delivery services from food outlets between 7 PM - 3 AM, letting residents to go on walks from 7 - 10 PM without vehicles during Ramadan, which begins from April 13 or 14.
The cabinet urged all to follow precautionary measures and not conduct any social gatherings. Other already-imposed restrictions are limiting the number of passengers in taxis to two during non-curfew hours and in case of medical emergencies during the curfew hours people are permitted to leave houses but only with a pass that can be accessed through the website of Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI).
Meanwhile, the cabinet has also extended the ban on entry of non-nationals until further notice. Nationals, medical personnel, relatives of Kuwaiti citizens and accompanied domestic workers, diplomats and minors below the age of 18 are all exempted from the ban.
As of Thursday, the Ministry of Health recorded 1,418 new COVID-19 cases and six related deaths, making the total active coronavirus cases in the country to be 233,521 and 1,319 total deaths.
