Israel evacuates 29,000 Gazan refugees; bombs the area within hours!
text_fieldsGaza: Israel has issued new evacuation orders for around 29,000 people in refugee camps in Nuseirat and Bureij in the central Gaza Strip. The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) said 86 per cent of the Gaza Strip is currently under evacuation orders, Al Jazeera reported.
Following the evacuation order, Israeli forces carried out widespread airstrikes in the area. Israeli jets bombed both camps within hours of ordering the evacuation. Wafa news agency reported that many houses were burned in Nuseirat while refugees were fleeing with their dear life on foot.
UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said Israel had displaced people from 86 per cent of Gaza. In an X post, he said that almost everyone in Gaza has been displaced. Since the start of the war nine months ago, many people have been forced to flee on an average of once a month.
Israel has pushed its tanks deeper into the southern Palestinian cities of Rafah and Khan Younis while intense fighting is going on with Palestinian soldiers. In 24 hours, at least 66 Palestinians were killed, Al Jazeera reports.
Meanwhile, in Israel, the nation’s security cabinet authorised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant to determine a response to a rocket attack at Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. According to Jerusalem, the attack, which killed 12 people, was carried out by Hezbollah of Lebanon.
Media in Lebanon has reported several incidents of air strikes in the southern region. According to the media, air raids were reported on Hula, Markaba, Aita al-Shaab, Khiam, Shaheen, Yaroun, Meiss el-Jabal, Kfar Kila and Bourj al-Shamali.
Following the escalations in southern Lebanon, countries started issuing travel warnings. Norway, Ireland, the US, etc., encouraged their citizens to leave Lebanon when commercial options are available, which may be blocked if the situation escalates more.
Citing the escalation in the Middle East, the German airline Lufthansa informed on Monday that it is cancelling flights to Beirut, the Lebanese capital, till July 30.
