The leading retailer group Lulu has signed a deal with Australia-based digital company FilMe to make watching movies at home easier and cost effective.

This will enable users to watch the latest movies at home without the need for subscription, downloads, signing up or credit cards and can just scan a QR code to play a movie instantly. It works on all smartphones.

Other specialties include being able to share with up to 7 people over 7 days at no extra cost and needs to be paid only half the cost of a movie ticket. As part of the launch campaign, virtual movie tickets with QR codes will be available at 5 dirhams to 20 dirhams in the Lulu Hypermarkets.

Faisal Mushtaq, CEO of Me Time Entertainment, the exclusive distributor of FilMe in the GCC stated that movie watching will never be the same again and that they have affiliated with major production houses including Fox Star, RSVP, Jio Studios and Viacom 18 amongst others. He added that they are in talks for movies with the studios in Arabic, Malayalam, Tamil & Filipino specially for GCC states.

Me Time Entertainment Marketing and Distribution Director Subhash Nair said that partnership with Lulu Hypermarket, which is spread across over 200 stores, is the ideal choice.

In the wake of Covid restrictions everywhere, watching films via FilMe would be a better option with its low cost and easy-to-use technology, according to V. Nandakumar, Director Marketing & Communications at Lulu Group International.

Ticket sales for blockbuster films to be released soon will be available from April 1.
