Gaza media office accuses Israel of 47 ceasefire violations, 38 killed

Gaza: The Government Media Office in Gaza has accused Israel of committing 47 violations of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, resulting in the deaths of 38 Palestinians and injuries to 143 others.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the office alleged that Israeli forces carried out “serious and repeated breaches” of the truce, including gunfire at civilians, airstrikes, shelling, and arrests across various parts of the Gaza Strip.
The statement said that these actions constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and demonstrate Israel’s continued aggression despite the declared ceasefire.
According to the report, Israeli tanks and armoured vehicles were deployed near residential areas, while drones and remote-controlled targeting systems were used in several attacks. The violations were said to have occurred across all governorates of the enclave.
The Gaza media office held Israel fully responsible for the continued hostilities and called on the United Nations and ceasefire guarantors to act immediately to ensure civilian protection and prevent further escalation.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas was brokered on October 9 through international mediation based on a proposal by US President Donald Trump. It came into effect the following day, marking the formal end of two years of conflict.
Under the agreement, Israel was to withdraw its troops to the “Yellow Line,” return Israeli captives, both living and deceased, and release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Meanwhile, Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told Al Jazeera that about 70,000 tonnes of unexploded ordnance remain scattered across the territory following months of Israeli bombardment.
