Fresh Israeli airstrikes kill 12 in Rafah; 53 in entire Gaza
text_fieldsJerusalem: In continuing carnage in Gaza's Rafah, Israel made air strikes on Thursday, killing 12 more Palestinians on Thursday early morning. Meanwhile, fighting happened in many other regions in the Gaza, Reuters reported, citing medics account from the enclave.
A day ago, Israel claimed it has control over Gaza's total land frontier, saying that its forces had taken control over a buffer zone along Gaza's border with Egypt. However, Israeli forces continued to attack on Thursday, too.
According to Israel, capturing the mentioned buffer zone has severed the route that Hamas used to smuggle arms into the enclave they used in the past seven months to target Israel's territory and its people.
An Israeli airstrike in Rafah killed 12 people who were working on recovering the body of a civilian from the debris of the refugee centre in the city, which Israel had charred days ago. Thursday's attack also wounded scores, but a definite count is yet to come out.
Medics further informed that another civilian got killed in the Al-Shati refugee camp.
Meanwhile, Israel reported fighting in southern, central and northern Gaza but chose not to respond to the deaths in Rafah. The townhouses had around 1.2 million people, and most of them were displaced refugees from other parts of Gaza since the war started.
Israel stepped up raids on Rafah despite the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued order to stop the attacks. Israel claims that it is trying to root out Hamas and save the hostages Hamas had taken into custody.
After the start of the war in the holy land, where people of multiple faiths have a stake, Israel killed 36,000 Palestinian citizens through both ground and air operations. There were a total of 53 deaths reported in Gaza, Hamas ruled health ministry informed.
