Manama: Most students choose the UK for higher education. But not many people know that the course studied there can be studied in Bahrain at an even lower cost. The dual-award degree allows students to acquire academic qualifications from Applied Science University and London South Bank University (LSBU), with enhanced technical skills and increased opportunities in the labour market after graduation. Students will acquire the skills to compete in this exciting and expanding market by enrolling in the programme. Their education at ASU will pave the way for success in this advanced and growing field. Students get additional partial scholarships from 30-40% for all students applying for London South Bank University programmes. BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Architectural Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, BA (Hons) in Business Management, LLB (Hons) in Law are the London South Bank University programmes. Can you tell us about the recent university rankings?

Certainly! Our university recently ranked 539th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and 20th among Arab universities in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2024. We're proud to be the only institution in Bahrain to have earned a 5-star rating from QS Stars University Ratings. Furthermore, we have exclusive international accreditation from the British Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. Notably, we are the first in Bahrain to offer programs accredited by the prestigious Chartered Institute of Building in civil and architectural engineering.

Does Applied Science University provide the education in line with labour market requirements?

Absolutely. We deliver education that directly meets the needs of both local and international markets by focusing on STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Our curricula are designed to prepare students thoroughly for their professional fields, focusing on practical, skill-based learning. Our programs cultivate leadership, communication, and management skills, ensuring our graduates are well-equipped for today's dynamic job market and have a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

What programs are offered in partnership with London South Bank University?

We offer a range of dual-degree programs in partnership with London South Bank University, enhancing job market diversification. These programs cover fields such as Law, Business Management, Civil, Architectural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Students in these programs benefit from partial scholarships ranging from 30-40% based on their high school performance, providing them with international exposure and substantial financial support.

What are the admission requirements for students interested in joining the university?

Prospective students must have a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, with a minimum of 60% average, to join programs in the College of Administrative Sciences and College of Arts & Science, and a 70% minimum for the College of Law. For programs in partnership with London South Bank University, applicants need at least a 65% GPA and a 60% in Mathematics and English. English proficiency equivalent to at least an IELTS score of 4.5 is also required.

What scholarships are provided to the students?

Our university offers various scholarships aimed at supporting and incentivizing students. These include scholarships for high academic achievers, athletes, and participants in our university sports clubs. We also offer scholarships for family members of current students and a special student support fund that targets both outstanding and financially challenged students.
