McDonald's launches Korean-flavoured BTS meal in 49 countries
text_fieldsThe American fast-food chain company McDonald's on Monday announced that it will collaborate with South Korean boy band BTS and launch a limited-edition meal in 49 countries including India, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, US and Singapore.
The fast-food giant plans to launch the new celebrity meal, BTS Meal in 12 countries initially including the United States next month before availing it in other countries. The meal will be available from May 26 to June 20. It includes about 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets, French fries and a drink, as well as sweet chilli and Cajun dipping sauces.
The sauces are inspired by popular recipes from its restaurants in South Korea, says McDonald's adding that they are thrilled to bring customers closer to their beloved band through an exclusive band meal.
"BTS truly lights up the world stage, uniting people across the globe through their music," said Morgan Flatley, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald's USA, in a statement.
"The band has great memories with McDonald's," said Big Hit Music, the band's management agency. "We're excited about this collaboration and can't wait to share the BTS Meal with the world."
This will mark the first time that McDonald's has launched a meal series worldwide. Experts say McDonald's-BTS collab meal is expected to increase sales affected by the coronavirus pandemic, given that the band has a colossal fanbase across the world.
On Monday, the seven-member band streamed a teaser for their upcoming concept photobook, Map Of The Soul: ON:E, which is to be officially released on May 24, 2021.
