Sandeep Warrier fears possible attack by CPM-BJP 'Innova'
text_fieldsMalappuram: Sandeep Warrier, who recently switched from the BJP to the Congress, has alleged a potential threat from a CPM-BJP alliance. Speaking to the media after meeting Muslim League state president Sadik Ali Shihab Thangal in Panakkad, Warrier said he feared that the joint CPM-BJP team would send an Innova to harm him, mentioning that if MB Rajesh were driving the vehicle, K. Surendran might be involved in the plot against him.
Warrier accused the CPM and BJP of colluding in Kerala’s political landscape, citing the upcoming Palakkad elections as an example. He claimed the parties’ recent reactions indicated a coordinated effort to target him.
Since joining Congress, Warrier has faced sharp criticism from MB Rajesh, Minister for Local Self-Governments, and BJP State President K. Surendran. Rajesh branded him as a "bull of communalism," stating that only Congress could manage to carry him forward, while adding that they hadn’t considered taking him in before.
In response, Warrier emphasized his deep connection with Malappuram, a place known for its brotherhood and secular values, which he believes is upheld by the Kodappankal family. He shared his admiration for Shihab Thangal, who was the first to rush to the fire-damaged Tali temple in Angadipuram during his tenure in the BJP. Warrier expressed hope that his visit would help clear any misunderstandings among those hurt by his past comments.
During his visit, Warrier reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Congress’s political agenda. Sadik Ali Shihab Thangal welcomed Warrier’s entry into Congress with great expectations.
Upon his arrival in Panakkad, Warrier was warmly received by League leaders PK Kunhalikutty, MLAs N. Shamsudheen, Najeeb Kanthapuram, and Youth League General Secretary PK Firoz.
Warrier’s visit to Panakkad was at the behest of the KPCC, with Congress and League leaders from Palakkad accompanying him. Earlier, Youth League President Munavvarali Thangal welcomed Warrier on Facebook, posting a photo with the caption, "Welcome Bro..." as he joined Congress, surprising opposition parties after rumors that Warrier might join CPI.
