Pathanamthitta/Kerala: The Secretary of the Orthodox Church Nilakkal Bhadrasanam Fr Shaiju Kurien and 47 members of the church accepted BJP membership. At an event organised by BJP on the occasion of Christmas here, Union Minister V. Muralidharan welcomed the new members. Shaiju said that India has developed in the last 10 years, and he joined BJP to stand with Modi to be a part of the development. The Metropolitan Kuriakos Mar Clemis of the Orthodox Church delivered the blessing sermon.

Union Minister Muralidharan claimed that Narendra Modi came to power not because of the Ayodhya issue or Ram Temple. The chiefs of many Christian churches, bishops and priests have helped the BJP in connection with the construction of the Ram temple, which, according to him, is because churches stand with the BJP. Many more Christians will join the party, he expressed confidence.

BJP had started a campaign in the backdrop of Christmas to reach out to Christian communities in Kerala. The campaign titled 'Sneha Yatra' bore Narendra Modi's Christmas message.

Their mission is to deliver Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Christmas message to Christian homes, dispelling misconceptions about the BJP. The outreach initiative, running from December 22 to December 31, targets a community traditionally aligned with the Congress. Beyond local dynamics, the BJP strategically taps into global issues, leveraging discontent over Kerala's ruling CPI(M) and Congress's pro-Palestine stance during the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It was evident that the BJP's Sneha Yatra aimed to navigate intricate local dynamics and, tap into global issues, and address economic concerns to secure a foothold in traditionally challenging territories under the guise of delivering Christmas messages.
