Nearly 30 in hospitals after Kuwait fire, most of them Keralites: Veena George
text_fieldsKochi: Following the devastating building fire in Kuwait that claimed the lives of 46 Indians, including 24 Malayalis, about thirty persons have been admitted to different hospitals, according to Health Minister Veena George.
“According to information from various sources, most of them undergoing treatment are from Kerala,” she said on Friday.
According to the Indian embassy in Kuwait, 33 Indians have been admitted with injuries to different hospitals in Kuwait, including Adan, Mubarak, Al-Kabeer, Jaber, Farwaniya, and Jahra. They are all said to be in stable condition, according to a statement from the embassy.
Reportedly, nearly four of the patients have been admitted to intensive care units (ICUs), according to Veena. “We haven’t received any official notification on the number of people undergoing treatment or their condition. We need more clarity on the situation.”
The Kerala government and the state's Congress party criticised the Centre's decision on Thursday to refuse political permission for the health minister to travel to Kuwait to oversee relief efforts.
