Palakkad: Justice for Ram Narayan Action Council has alleged that the Sangh Parivar is attempting to spread communal hatred and carry out violence in the name of religion, and demanded that Kerala take strong legal measures to prevent such acts. The council said that the Supreme Court guidelines issued in the Tehseen Poonawalla case to curb mob lynching must be implemented in the state.

The speakers pointed out that even now the police have not arrested all those responsible for the murder of Ram Narayan. They also demanded that the ₹30 lakh interim compensation announced for Ram Narayan’s family be released immediately.

The meeting further stressed that Kerala should remain vigilant against communal violence and mob attacks. It called for ensuring a transparent and flawless investigation into the Ram Narayan murder case, strict implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions, and speedy delivery of the announced compensation to the victim’s family.

Earlier, hundreds of people took part in a solidarity rally that began from the Municipal Stand premises and concluded at the Stadium Stand area.

Human rights activist GROW Vasu inaugurated the meeting. The programme was presided over by advocate K. S. Nisar, general convener of the Action Council. Ram Narayan’s brother, Shashikant Baghel, attended as the chief guest.

The main address was delivered by K. Sivaraman, chairman of the Justice for Ram Narayan Action Council, Kerala. Representatives from Welfare Party, PUCL, SDPI, CPIML Red Star, Solidarity Youth Movement, Save India Collective, Sadhujana Paripalana Sangham, WIM, Manav Foundation, Adivasi Samithi, Attappadi Mooppan Council, Fraternity Movement, Porattam along with human rights activist Vilayodi Sivankutty, Ambika Maruvakku and others spoke at the meeting.
